Komplot is pleased to present the work of Antoine Renard in the context of his residency at Cheval Noir. During the course of his Brussels residency, Antoine Renard has been working on water color drawings and smoking sculptures, exploring the possibility of contacting early subconscious memories and feelings. In Antoine Renard's world, sensitivity and softness become forms that are creamy and celular or acidic and embryonic. In this organic onirism, the elements are conversing with the body and the architecture of the studio, a flow of drawings navigate like water alongside with the smoke of the sculpture spreading in the air. Recalling his own deeply embed sensations and gut feelings, Renard describes the work as “intestinal landscapes”, craving that period of life prior to language and exploring it throughout those raw instinctive forms.
