CARLES IS POP AND HE ROCKS!

Born in Olot, Girona, Spain, 1970, lives and works between Olot and Barcelona. In his work he combines different media and supports such as video, music, drawing, photography and installation to create a complex and ironic discourse about art and its exchanges.

His work is characterized by this singular fondness for different subgenres of the culture of the masses, which he raises questions about the prevailing mechanisms of the art of our day. Throughout his work we see how the role the artist plays in the contemporary world is related to that of the adolescent undergoing the socialization process. The uninhibited way in which he integrates very different influences, such as pop music, comic books, television, fantasy films and teenage iconography, into his artistic discourse, in addition to a very particular use of irony and humour, shape a work underscored by its demystifying nature, breaking down the hierarchies of forms of expression.
